Being a 912'er

The Richmond Patriots is a community that is just 5 months old and already we have issues that are testing our integrity. Recently, we were asked by a potential candidate to help find "dirt" on their opponent. Now, is the incubate for the post corrupt? Probably. I guess the assumption that was made by the challenger, was "we are for conservative values and will do anything to advance the cause". Please be assured that after this exchange communication was stop and this candidate removed from our membership.

This incident brought to light that being a 912'er requires making some tough decisions. Were we to tough on this candidate? Maybe. However, when it comes to holding on to integrity you must be vigilant. Even one incident no matter how innocent it may seem could jeopardize your reputation.

During our short 5 months of existence, we have been contacted to fund raise for candidates, to help sell "products" for local GOP, and to promote GOP events. We have declined. To this we would like to announce once again, The Richmond Patriots is a non`partisan group. If a candidate feels they are in line with the 912 principals and can demonstrate it to us by their past actions, we will provide a platform for them to get their message to our members. This NOT is an endorsement. We will NOT campaign as a group, but simply provide information for our members to make an informed decision.

  1. To Co-op, or not to be Co-opted: that is the question:
    Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
    The slings and arrows of outrageous platitudes,
    Or to take arms against a sea of pathetic politicians,
    And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
    No more; and by a sleep to say we end
    The heart-ache and the thousand liberal bills before the House and Senate
    That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation!
    ... Oh The insolence of office!

  2. Great post, Michelle! Keep them coming!
